8 Indonesia’s Biggest Provinces with Palm Oil Production- According to the database of Ministry of Agriculture in Indonesia, there are 8 Indonesia’s Biggest Provinces With Palm Oil Production in 2019. Basically, these regions has huge production of Palm Oil (E. guineensis). Biologically, in its taxonomy, this plant can be included into Order: Arecales; Family: Arecaceae; Subfamily: Arecoideae; Tribe: Cocoseae; Genus: Elaeis.


Production of palm oil in Indonesia has started since 1964. Nowadaya, Indonesia become the World’s biggest producers of Palm Oil with production around more than 45 million tonnes. in Indonesia, most of the oil palm was cultivated mostly by Companies. The companies manage around 7.9 million hectares or 54% of total palm oil agricultural land. Meanwhile, the small farmers can manage around 5.8 million hectares or 41% total agriculture land. The rest of the land was managed by Government. With huge production of Palm Oil, Indonesia in 2019 can export its Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and its derivatives reached 36 million tons. The destination of Indonesian CPO are China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other countries.

1.Riau


Riau still become the main region in Indonesia with biggest production of Palm Oil. Statistically, the production of Palm Oil from Riau in 2019 reached 9.513.208 tonnes with total agricultural land around 2.741.621 hectare. Based on the specific regions on city/regency, many palm oil plantation in Riau can be found mostly in Kampar with 413 thousand hectares, Rokan Hulu (410 thousand hectares), Siak (347 thousand hectares), Pelalawan (325 thousand hectares), and Rokan Hilir (282 thousand hectares).
2.Kalimantan Tengah (Central Kalimantan)


Kalimantan Tengah (Central Kalimantan) is the second biggest province / region of Indonesia in Palm Oil Production. Statistically, in 2019, the production of Palm Oil from Kalimantan Tengah (Central Kalimantan) reached 7.664.841 tonnes with Palm oil agricultural land around 1.922.083 hectare. Based on the regions in regency/ city, many palm oil plantation in Kalimantan Tengah can be found mostly in Kotawaringin Timur with total area around 406 thousand hectares, Seruyan (332 thousand hectares), Lamandau (175 thousand hectares), Gunung Mas (125 thousand hectares), and Kapuas (103 thousand hectares) .
3.Sumatera Utara (North Sumatera)


Sumatera Utara (North Sumatera) is the third biggest province/ region in Indonesia as producer of Palm Oil. Statistically, the production of Palm Oil reached 5.647.313 tonnes with agricultural land around 1.373.273 hectare. Based on the specific regions of regency/ city, many palm oil plantation in Sumatera Utara can be found mostly in Asahan with total plantation area around 77 thousand hectares,Labuanbatu Utara (73 thousand hectares), Labuhanbatu selatan (42 thousand hectares), and Padang lawas (33 thousand hectares).
4.Kalimantan Barat (West Kalimantan)


Kalimantan Barat (West Kalimantan) is the fourth biggest province/ region in Indonesia with huge production of Palm Oil. In 2019, according to Database of Ministry of Agriculture, the production of Palm Oil reached 5.235.299 tonnes with recorded agricultural land 2.017.456 hectares. Based on the specific regions of regency/ city, many palm oil plantation in Kalimantan Utara can be found mostly in Sanggau, Ketapang, Bengkayang, Landak, and Sambas.
5.Sumatera Selatan (South Sumatra)


Sumatera Selatan (South Sumatra) is the 5th biggest region/province in Indonesia with have huge production of Palm Oil. Based on the database of Ministry of Agriculture in 2019, the production of Palm Oil reached 4.049.156 tonnes with agricultural land around 1.191.401 hectare. Based on the specific regions of regency/ city, many palm oil plantation in Sumatera Selatan can be found mostly in Musi Rawas with total plantation area around 313 thousand hectares, Musi Banyuasin (202 thousand hectares), Ogan Komering Ilir (229 thousand hectares), and Pagar Alam (130 thousand hectares).
6.Kalimantan Timur (East Kalimantan)


Kalimantan Timur (East Kalimantan) is the 8th biggest region/ province in Indonesia that have huge production of Palm Oil. Based on the database of Ministry of Agriculture in 2019, the production of Palm Oil reached 3.988.883 tonnes with agriculture land around 1.254.224 hectare. Based on the specific regions of regency/ city, many palm oil plantation in Kalimantan Timur can be found mostly in 10 regencies and cities with the largest area in East Kutai Regency reaching 459,616.36 hectares. The land in East Kutai has oil palm with an area of 181,503.25 hectares. Another large oil palm area is located in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, reaching 224,223.15 hectares, followed by West Kutai with 146,304.81 hectares. Next, Berau Regency with an area of 123,389.50 hectares and North Penajam Paser (PPU) with 52,291.18 hectares and Mahakam Ulu with an area of 19,926 hectares.
7.Jambi


Jambi is the 7th biggest region/ province in Indonesia which have huge production of Palm Oil. Statistically, the production of Palm Oil from Jambi reached 2.884.406 tonnes with agricultural land around 1.034.804 hectares. Based on the specific regions of regency/ city, many palm oil plantation in Jambi can be found mostly in Muaro Jambi with area of pf Palm Oil around 136 thousand hectares, Merangin 71 thousand hectares, Batanghari 53 thousand hectares, Bungo 93 thousand hectares, and Tebo 114 thousand hectares.
8.Kalimantan Selatan (South Kalimantan)


Kalimantan Selatan (South Kalimantan) is 8th biggest region / province in Indonesia that has huge production of Palm Oil in 2019. According to Database of Ministry of Agriculture, the production of Palm Oil from Kalimantan Selatan (South Kalimantan) reached 1.665.397 tonnes with recorded agriculture land around 471.264 hectares. Based on the specific regions of regency/ city, many palm oil plantation in Kalimantan Selatan can be found mostly in Kotabaru with plantation area around 155 thousand hectares, Tanah Laut (73 thousand hectares), Tapin (55 thousand hectares), and Tanah Bumbu (73 thousand hectares).
