China is the biggest of all countries with the production of 94.3 million tons in 2021. In 2006, the planted area of potatoes in China was around 5.34 million hectares. Geographically, there are some regions of potatoes area in China. These regions are Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing, Heilongjiang, Shanxi, and Shaanxi. India was the second biggest country of potato production in the world. In 2021, based on the FAOSTAT data, the production of India’s Potato reached 54.3 million tons. These states are Uttar Pradesh with production reached fifteen million tons, West Bengal 13 million tons, Bihar 8.1 million tons, Gujarat 3.7 million tons, Madhya Pradesh 3.2 million tons, Punjab 2.7 million tons, and Assam 1.1 million tons.
