In general, duck is the name for several species of birds including the family Anatidae. Physically, ducks are generally aquatic birds that are mostly smaller than their relatives such as geese. Based on their habitat, they can be found easily in fresh water and seawater. Ducks consume a variety of food sources such as grasses, aquatic plants, fish, insects, worms, and mollusks. China is the world’s largest producer of duck meat than the other countries. In terms of duck raising areas, several duck breeding areas spread across several provinces such as Jiangsu, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang. In 2019, the production of duck meat in China reached 3,298,738 tons.
Myanmar is the second country with the second-largest production of duck meat in the world. In 2019, based on data from the FAO Statistical database (FAO Stat), duck meat production in Myanmar reached 194,27 tons. In addition, according to Statista data, 2019, there are more than 30 million duck populations in this country. This number is certainly increasing rapidly when compared to the population of ducks in 2010. In that year, the total population of ducks was just only 14.5 million. So, there was a 2-fold increase in the duck population during 10 years if it compares between 2010 and 2019.
Vietnam is one of the South-East Asia countries besides Myanmar with the highest production of duck meat globally. In 2019, the production of duck meat in Vietnam reached 98,732 tons. In the country whose capital is Ho Chi Minh City, duck farms spread across several provinces such as Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Hau Giang, and Dong Thap.
Besides being famous for its Ginseng, South Korea is also famous for its poultry production, especially its ducks’ production. In 2019, the production of duck meat in South Korea reached 95,200 tons. Geographically, several areas that are the main area of duck production are Damyang, Suncheon, Yeongam, Jangheung, and Naju.
Hungary is one of the European Union Countries that have the highest duck meat production. In 2019, the production of duck meat in Hungary reached 90,850 tons. Several large duck processing companies are quite well known in this country, namely the Trnzit Group with its product Goldenfood brand.
People in Taiwan have been raising ducks for a long time. They have a long history, experience, and journey with these birds. This country has been cultivating ducks for 300 years ago. Based on the duck species, the Muscovy duck, mule duck, and Peking duck are the most widely bred species. In addition, several duck farms are scattered in several areas in Taiwan such as Yilan, Yunlin, Chiayi, and Taichung. Statistically, in 2019, based on data from FAO, the production of duck meat in Taiwan reached 87,488 tons.
Malaysia is one of the countries with the largest duck meat production in Southeast Asia besides Myanmar and Vietnam. In 2019, the production of duck meat in Malaysia reached 68,668 tons. In general, some duck farming areas in Malaysia are spread across several states, namely Perak, Kelantan, Malacca, Pahang, Penang, and Selangor.
In 2019, based on data from FAO, the production of duck meat in Egypt reached 64,478 tons. In this country, the consumption of duck meat is still high because it became one of the favorite meats. Despite having high production, this country still imports duck meat from other countries because of the unbalancing demand.

In 2019, the production of duck meat in the United States reached 64,049 tons. In the United States, there are areas famous for poultry conservation areas including ducks. The Prairie Pothole Region is an area known as the Duck Factory in North America because of the abundance of poultry, including ducks.
Poland is the largest producer of duck meat in Europe besides Hungary. In 2019, the production of duck meat in Poland reached 61,880 tons. In general, many of their duck meat products are exported to several countries such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong.
