In 2021, the total harvested area of wheat around 220 million hectares (ha) with recorded production of around 770 million tons. Statistically, wheat become one of the most planted crops in the world besides Maize (Zea Mays), Soybean (Glycine max), Paddy (Oryza sativa).

In the last 20 years, from 2000 to 2021, the world’s production of wheat has gradually increased from time to time. In 2000, the production of wheat just 587 million tons and it had increased to 770 million tons in the year of 2021. from the last 20 years, the growth of production around 9 tons annually. Meanwhile, the harvested area has relatively small increased with 215 million hectares(Ha) in 2000 and became 220 million hectares (Ha) in 2021.

Geographically, based on the Region/continents statistics, Wheat has been planted into several regions of the world. Asia, Europe, and America regions still the biggest main regions of wheat cultivation in 2020. China still became the biggest producers of Wheat in 2021. Statistically, according to FAO Statistical Database, the production of Wheat from China around 136,946,000 tonnes. Geographically, there are some provinces that become the main region of Wheat in China. These provinces are Henan, Anhui, Shandong, Hebei, Jiangsu, and Xinjian. Genetically, the Winter and Spring wheat can be found in this country. In China, the production of Winter Wheat can contribute more than 90% of overall nationwide production in China. Spring Wheat just contributes around 5% of Nationwide production.

2.India- 2nd World’s Biggest Wheat Producers in 2021

India is the 2nd biggest producer of Wheat in 2021. According to FAO Statistical Corporate Database, the production of Wheat from Mahatma Gandhi’s country reached 109,590,000 tonnes. In the Russia, Winter Wheat can contribute around 72% of annual production and Spring wheat just contributes around 28%.
