In 1980, the world’s production of Almonds reached 919 thousand tonnes with harvested areas of around 1.2 million tonnes. Furthermore, in 2021, the world’s production of Almonds had become 3.9 million tonnes with harvested areas of around 2.2 million hectares.

1. United States of America       

The United States of America becomes the biggest producer of Almond in 2021. Statistically, the production of Almond from this country reaches 2,189,040 tons. Geographically, in this country, California States is one of the biggest areas of Almond production. Based on the genetic plants, there are some popular almonds that are mostly cultivated in the USA nowadays. Some of the popular varieties are Nonpareil, Carmel, California types, and Mission. Overall, maybe in 2020, the production of The United States of America contributes more than 70% of the world’s almond production.


2.Spain

Spain becomes the second-biggest producer of Almond production in 2021. Totally, the production of almonds from this country reaches 365,210 tons. Geographically, there are some regions in Spain that become a primary areas of Almond Cultivation. Andalucía, Aragon, Valencia, Castille-La Mancha are some of biggest area of Almond production in Spain. Basically, based on genetic, there are some popular almonds in Spain. 5.Morocco        

Morocco is the 5th biggest producer of Almond in 2021. According to FAO Statistical Database in 2021, the production of Morocco Almond reach 169,255 tons. In this country, Most of the almond crop is produced on small farms in the traditional sector. Genetically, in Morocco, Marcona and Fournat de Brezenaud are some of the popular varieties in Morocco.

6.Iran   

Iran is the 6th biggest producer of Almond in 2021. Statistically, the production of Iranian almonds reaches 163,568.2 tons. Geographically, there are some regions in Iran with the biggest production of Almond. The main area of almond cultivation takes place in the Northwest of Iran and the Tabriz region. 7.Syrian Arab Republic  

The Syrian Arab Republic is the 7th biggest producer of Almond in 2021. According to FAO Statistical Database in 2020, the production of Syrian’s Almond reach 87,768.07 tons. Geographically, Homs central province is the biggest area of Almond production in this country


8.Tunisia           

Tunisia is the 8th biggest producer of Almond. Statistically, the production of Tunisian almonds reaches 75,000 tons. Geographically, the region of Kasserine, Sidi Bouzid, and Gafsa has a pivotal role in maintaining almond production 8in Tunisia.


9.Italy  

Italy is the 9th biggest producer of Almond. Statistically, the production of Pizza’s country reaches 71,620 tons. Geographically, Apulia and Sicily are some of the most important regions that supply the domestic production of Almond to Italy. Genetically, there are some popular varieties of Almond. These varieties are Pizzuta, Fascionello Romana, Cavaliera and Bonifacio.


10. Algeria

Algeria is the 10th biggest producer of Almond. In 2021, the production of Algeria reaches 55,448 tons.  This country has growing production of almonds. To support domestic almond production, the government shut down the imported almond.
